Where I live there are lots and lots of Birch trees. Their white bark is distinctive against the water and I really love being surrounded by them. In this painting I have included Mackinac Island that is visible from my home. I exaggerated the grand hotel on the island ... it is a favorite of so many summer visitors with it's grand front porch that is the largest in the world.
